The Vaishya trade guilds have grown so powerful that they have assumed de facto control over our country. Real political power now lies in the hands of these wealthy organizations.

Vaishya Guild Coup[1] is a disaster that may occur in countries with a powerful Vaishyas.png Vaishyas estate.

Prerequisites[edit | edit source]

The country has a Vaishyas.png Vaishyas estate which has at least 80 Estate influence influence.

If these prerequisites are met, the monthly progress can begin.

The country:

  • does not have an ongoing disaster.
  • has a Vaishyas estate with at least 100 influence.
The country:
  • has an ongoing disaster or has a Vaishyas estate with less than 100 influence.

If the progress reaches 100%, the disaster will start with the following event:

$MONARCH$ has allowed the Vaishyas of $COUNTRY$ to grow too powerful and now they have made their move. Making use of their many hard-earned privileges as well as the many debts owed to them, they have effectively seized the reins of government and turned the $MONARCHTITLE$ into little more than their puppet.

The country:

[Root.GetName] will now be controlled by the Vaishyas until the 'Curtail the Vaishyas' decision is taken.

While the disaster is ongoing the country suffers:

  • Morale of armies.png −10% morale of armies
  • National manpower modifier.png −25% national manpower modifier
  • Land force limit modifier.png −25% land force limit modifier
  • Yearly prestige.png –1 yearly prestige

Through bribery and corruption, the Vaishyas have a stranglehold on our government. To seize control back from these merchants we will need to curtail their power and privileges.


 
Potential requirements

The country:

  • has an ongoing ‘Vaishya Guild Coup’ disaster.[4]
Allow

The country:

  • has a stability of at least 1.
  • does not have rebel armies in its provinces.
  • does not have rebel controlled provinces.
  • has a Vaishyas estate which influence is lower than 60.

Effects

The country:[5]

  • loses Stability.png 3 stability.

The capital of the country:

  • loses Base tax.png 1 base tax.
  • loses Production.png 1 base production.

Then the following event is triggered.
