You have added the {{Template|Links}} ambox to some articles. The text says: ''Some of the internal links on this page may not be written correctly.'', but on some marked pages there are no links at all, e.g. [[Wallachia]]. Do you want to criticize the lack of internal links on these pages? If so, perhaps the {{Template|Copy edit}} ambox with the reason ‘absence of links’ (or something) is a better choice. One unique perk of the Swabian culture group is it is so rarely played it only has two ruler names (both male) - Gunther and Rolf. This means the country cannot get a female heir. This can be of some limited utility as prior to the Pragmatic Sanction being passed, the HRE is male-succession only. This means guaranteed stability if you become the kaiser. This also allows some potential benefit if one chooses Swabian culture group for an HRE-based custom nation.

: It did not add a strategy guide. It was a single point that is more relevant on the HRE page. The wiki also uses a third person register so using "you" is not part of the style guide. In summary, it didn't aid the page, it was in the wrong place and it didn't follow the style guide. Hence I removed it. If you want to add the content to the [[Holy_Roman_Empire#Empresses]] section then it would be more suited. I hope this explains the decision. : Will do. Quick question is it worth building a ambox for ''Needs boxing'' to indicate events/decisions which need to be put into the pretty box format? Current plan is to put these in C unless you would recommend B instead. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 16:18, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

Hello I am fairly new to editing Wikis but recently gained the A Hero's Welcome Achievement and wanted to share my strategy. I thought it was very well organized and even had the country flag links to each mentioned country. It was deleted by SolSys and the only reason why it was deleted was a comment that he was (Not Amused). I really don't understand why this was done and when I tried to restore the guide it was taken down again. If there's an issue I'll fix it, but it seems counter-to what you guys should be doing considering it was a guide for a new formable nation an accompanying achievement. <small>''—&nbsp;Preceding [[Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Signatures|unsigned]] comment added by'' [[User: Steve711| Steve711]] ([[User talk: Steve711|talk]]) 10:26, 3 December 2017‎ (CET)</small>

:: They go in "list", not a letter grade ;)

: Please don't post on my archive, this is my talk page and I'll get an alert when you post here. We have the job you claim however we also have to enforce the [[Europa_Universalis_4_Wiki:Style|style guide]] and the [[Europa_Universalis_4_Wiki:Style/Country|country style guide]] and ensure that the content added is easy to read. SolSys was not amused because you had a repeating pair of paragraphs and an overflow of flags. If I take a cursory look at the your edit then it needs correcting on the following points.
:: We could probably use an ambox for computer-generated pages, yeah.

:: You might want to use my Java parser rather than my Python parser if you've got the development environment for that. At this point it's better.

:: Still WIP though, so haven't actually made a JAR or anything like that, so you do need an IDE or compiler to run it, and would have to first edit in the correct path (currently hardcoded).

:: It's available here: https://github.com/Meneth/JParser [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 16:21, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

::: I'll stick with the python one, I'll also do the same for decisions soon. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 16:23, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

# Use of you/your: Please change to third person (137 times)

:::: That's fine.

:::: Once it's runnable without a development environment, I'll stick it on the [[Project:Parser]] page. No real timeline for that though; I'm rewriting it mostly to pass time. [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 16:24, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

: If you think it will be faster then I'm happy to use that as the input instead. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 16:31, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

:: Here you go: http://www.mediafire.com/download/z5wtbnbb1cp466b/output.7z

:: Should be essentially no missing localisation there, unlike say, [[Women in History events]]. Far fewer unlocalised commands/conditions too (should be 4 total out of about 1000. ~250 less than the Python parser).

:: [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 16:46, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

::: Cheers, will continue with this and if needed go over the older ones too. Any ideas what we should call this future ambox? [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 16:48, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

== Events ==

I think you missed AoWEvent.txt; do you have updated event in version 1.12.2? [[User:Stigni|Stigni]] ([[User talk:Stigni|talk]]) 20:26, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

: I have the file I'll go update it now. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 20:59, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

:: They were two different question. If every event list is update with 1.12.2, I can update everything to 1.13.beta only looking at the differences between 1.12.2 and 1.13.beta (I have only these two version on GitHub). [[User:Stigni|Stigni]] ([[User talk:Stigni|talk]]) 21:32, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

::: I do have everything in the 1.12 version but its in the non-boxed format which means we're going to lose a lot of work. Hence I only used it for new pages and not correcting old ones. How many events pages need an update to 1.12? [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 21:33, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

:::: There is 41 <nowiki>[[* events]]</nowiki> pages with 1.11 version and 1 with 1.10 version. [[User:Stigni|Stigni]] ([[User talk:Stigni|talk]]) 21:39, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

:::::: Note that I've spotted more localisation issues and the like.

:::::: Here's output with most of that fixed: http://www.mediafire.com/download/z5wtbnbb1cp466b/output.7z

:::::: You wouldn't believe how easy localisation is to fuck up. [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 22:57, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

:::::: I may have another go at this, Stigni was also going to do some work too I think. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 23:26, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

::::::: If you're gonna redo stuff, please do wait until the parser is in a better state, unless you feel like wasting time. I continually find issues. It's already better than the old Python parser, but there's still plenty of issues.

::::::: It is very much WIP. I'll work more on it tomorrow, but now it's getting late and I'm tired. [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 23:29, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

:::::::: No worries, we can hold off. This does at least give us a bit more completion on the wiki. We could also do with the parsed decisions files too. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 23:30, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

(Unindent) The Java version can't handle decisions yet. That'll be the next step once I'm reasonably happy with event parsing. Based on what I remember from making the Python version though, it should be simple enough. [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 23:38, 3 July 2015 (CEST)

== Formation Decision ==

I don't understand what you want to do with Formation Decision. If you could explaine your idea, maybe I could help. [[User:Stigni|Stigni]] ([[User talk:Stigni|talk]]) 11:33, 13 July 2015 (CEST)

: If you look at the [[Decisions]] page I added a lot of redlinks for the formation decisions for several nations. They may already exist on the nation page or they may need to be added. For example its possible to form [[Spain]] militarily or diplomatically, those are two decisions which we need to have explained. They exist on the Spain page but there was no link on the decisions page. A lot of them may we just involved linking to the proper pages. Does this help clarify? == Computer generated pages ==

You have added a lot of computer generated pages. Most of the terms dealing with manpower are not correct. Perhaps you can improve your skript. [[User:Lillebror|– Lillebror]] ([[User talk:Lillebror|talk]]) 09:31, 23 July 2015 (CEST)

: A lot are on Meneth's parser, let me know where the errors are and I'll got have a look too. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 10:01, 23 July 2015 (CEST)

::Oh, I thought my description was good enough. During my edits of the [[Charruan events]] I recognised it. (The event [[French_Wars_of_Religion_events#French_Wars_of_Religion|French Wars of Religion]] is an good example, errors in effects and triggers.) [[User:Lillebror|– Lillebror]] ([[User talk:Lillebror|talk]]) 12:09, 23 July 2015 (CEST)

::: The events were with Meneth's unrelased java parser which he ran for me and I grabbed the output. I'll double check a few of the computer generated ones. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 12:23, 23 July 2015 (CEST)

:::: I've fixed the manpower localisation in my parser now. Latest output: http://www.mediafire.com/download/wus50w59tta7pea/output%282%29.7z. Haven't worked on the parser for about two weeks now, so should be relatively stable.

:::: All tokens found in events are at this point localised. [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 12:32, 23 July 2015 (CEST)

::::: Every single file has changed, I can copy them all over since this is the only way to guarantee I've got everything. Unless someone has a more elegant plan? [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 21:27, 23 July 2015 (CEST)

:::::: Would work I suppose. BTW, I've updated it so that anyone with Java installed should be able to run it. I've also made a wiki page for it: [[Project:JParser]]. The actual output should be the same as I linked above though. [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 14:25, 25 July 2015 (CEST)

::::::: I've been using the output, Lillebror can you identify a search term to id the screwed up manpower? I think base manpower may be the one that's wrong but could do with confirmation. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 15:11, 25 July 2015 (CEST)

:::::::: "manpower" was wrong. You can see the fix I did here: https://github.com/Meneth/JParser/commit/29580f2ef47f38cb5b89d96b86ec739859afa1a2. [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 15:19, 25 July 2015 (CEST)

:::::::: Oh and it was localised identically to "base_manpower", so a search and replace can't fix that I'm afraid, only tell you where it *might* be wrong. [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 15:20, 25 July 2015 (CEST)

::::::::: I'll dump new output on anywhere where I can find base manpower on the created events page, doesn't seem to be too many left. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 15:21, 25 July 2015 (CEST)

(Unindent) That should do it, yeah. [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 15:22, 25 July 2015 (CEST)

: Done, I'm sure we could benefit from more copied but it can wait until we're done with the organised approach work. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 15:34, 25 July 2015 (CEST)

:: Yeah. On the plus side, your edits made me find an encoding issue in the parser: "Named per brahe den 孤re". That show now be correctly displayed as "Named Per Brahe den äldre" (the capitalization thing wasn't an encoding issue, but I fixed that as well while I was at it. Also fixes the DLC names being all in lower case, and a few similar minor issues). [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 16:15, 25 July 2015 (CEST)

::: Sorry I had not the time to deal with this issue last weak. Hopefully this week... [[User:Lillebror|– Lillebror]] ([[User talk:Lillebror|talk]]) 08:38, 26 July 2015 (CEST)

== Signatures ==

The easiest way to tell people to sign is by using the [[Template:Unsigned|unsigned template]]. In that case: <nowiki>{{subst:unsigned|AkwatiKata|20:18, 27 July 2015 (CEST)}}</nowiki>. I don't think I've seen anyone keep forgetting to sign after the unsigned template has been used, plus it solves the immediate issue on the talk page as well. [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 20:27, 27 July 2015 (CEST)

== Country navbox ==

OK. Who is allowed to rate articles? I have wrote [[Norwegian Wood]] some time ago (spend some time on the map), and it doesn't have any rating yet. [[User:Puchacz|Puchacz]] ([[User talk:Puchacz|talk]]) 14:03, 4 September 2015 (CEST)

: I do most of the rating. Occasionally Dauth or Lillebror rates an article as well.

: I've given Norwegian Wood a B now; looks pretty solid. Didn't see it when it was first created, sorry. [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 14:05, 4 September 2015 (CEST)

== Old Images ==

I'm trying to clean up some of the old images/screenshots that are still marked as 1.6 to 1.10. How do I mark the old images for deletion? Asking here because I noticed Dauth cleaned up behind me and got rid of two of them.  You can also do your magic on www.eu4wiki.com/File:Eu4_Revolts_table.PNG in a moment. --[[User:Rendiggy|Rendiggy]] ([[User talk:Rendiggy|talk]]) 13:42, 3 October 2015 (CEST)

: It would be better if you were to upload new versions over the old ones that would mean I didn't need to delete the older one. To make for delete use the delete template <nowiki>{{delete|}}</nowiki> and type your reason after the | . [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 14:06, 3 October 2015 (CEST)

:: I tried uploading an updated version originally, but it wouldn't accept the file.  I'll try to figure out what the issue was. --[[User:Rendiggy|Rendiggy]] ([[User talk:Rendiggy|talk]]) 14:43, 3 October 2015 (CEST)

::: Was it perhaps a different format? A JPG file can only be replaced with another JPG file. A PNG file can only be replaced with another PNG file. [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 14:47, 3 October 2015 (CEST)

::: Super speed admins typing before I get there. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 14:49, 3 October 2015 (CEST)

:::: If you can't convert the files just upload what you have and I'll delete the ones they replace. Meneth can we install imagemagik or the like on the server? [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 16:16, 3 October 2015 (CEST)

== Time stamps ==

The wiki doesn't seem to use the same time zone across the system which is honestly quite confusing. For example, the signatures on the ''Discussion'' pages will show one time while the ''Recent changes'' will show another. Is it possible to streamline the situation? ~ [[User:SolSys|SolSys]] ([[User talk:SolSys|talk]]) 11:32, 14 December 2015 (CET)

: I don't know, that's something to ask Meneth, if it helps I'm currently on CET and all the times look fine to me. Try looking at the time settings in your preferences. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 11:40, 14 December 2015 (CET)

: The Talk pages use hardcoded timestamps, inserted as plain text when you sign a comment. This timestamp uses CET/CEST; the time zone the server is configured to use as it is in Amsterdam, and I'm in Norway.

: All (AFAIK) other pages use dynamic timestamps however, based on the time zone you're personally in. This can be changed in your preferences.

: So if you want complete consistency, you can switch the time zone used over to CET in your preferences. [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 11:43, 14 December 2015 (CET)

::Sounds like a plan. Thanks. ~ [[User:SolSys|SolSys]] ([[User talk:SolSys|talk]]) 12:04, 14 December 2015 (CET)

== Events template from parser ==

http://www.eu4wiki.com/index.php?title=Saxony&type=revision&diff=63822&oldid=61396

I've seen that you have been updating events with the parser output form Hairy Dude. PLease note that it is note perfect, and need future handwork. For example this edit destroyed mtth parameter and broke years with some space. Perhaps add Computer Generated Template each time you update it this way? [[User:Puchacz|Puchacz]] ([[User talk:Puchacz|talk]]) 15:10, 7 January 2016 (CET)

: I've been trying to catch them, obviously I missed on. I know its not perfect but I've been using about 1/20 pages after eliminating ones with more serious issues. Hopefully a fully ready parser will be along soon. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 15:16, 7 January 2016 (CET)

:: Well, it is very hard to make a perfect parser, and Hairy Dude did a great job. I really like about this one that HD added event id in commented page, which would help in updating. And btw, about Saxony, I believe that it was enough to just change 1.13 to 1.14, as event was not changed ;) (judging form the result). [[User:Puchacz|Puchacz]] ([[User talk:Puchacz|talk]]) 15:50, 7 January 2016 (CET)

::: Thanks! It's gratifying that other people are using something I made :D Did you manage to run it yourself or did you use the zipped output I uploaded?

::: As an aside, I just pushed a patch that implements decisions. The usual caveats about (in)completeness and computer-generated ugliness apply. [[User:Hairy Dude|Hairy Dude]] ([[User talk:Hairy Dude|talk]]) 05:44, 12 January 2016 (CET)

:::: I used the files you uploaded. It might be worth repeating that with the updated version of the parser. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 09:47, 12 January 2016 (CET)

::::: And since I made some major updates recently, I've updated the zip file with output. See my user page. Note that mtth is now shown for <code>is_triggered_only</code> events that have it, and I remembered about option conditions again. [[User:Hairy Dude|Hairy Dude]] ([[User talk:Hairy Dude|talk]]) 02:48, 15 January 2016 (CET)

:::::: Good to know, I'll get an updated set soon. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 10:27, 15 January 2016 (CET)

(unindent) I just pushed a patch that should make it work on Windows (tested on 10), and an updated readme with new build instructions that ''should'' get it working no matter what. [[User:Hairy Dude|Hairy Dude]] ([[User talk:Hairy Dude|talk]]) 18:17, 25 January 2016 (CET)

== Parser transclusion ==

''Dauth'', regarding the following point on your list:

* Strategy guides which show events/decisions/missions should have them set up to transcude and transcluded (setting up every event/decision/mission is too much work for too little gain)

It might be easier to implement this using ''Hairy Dude'''s parser. ~ [[User:SolSys|SolSys]] ([[User talk:SolSys|talk]]) 21:55, 26 January 2016 (CET)

: I think you have a good point there. If you want to suggest to HairyDude that the parser auto generates the base information for transclusions then please go ahead. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 01:01, 27 January 2016 (CET)

::I just thought of another - more direct - approach. I'll try to see how it works with baking it into the template. If it won't work I'll see if he can incorporate this into his parser. I'll add it to my list and work on it after some 1.15 page updates. ~ [[User:SolSys|SolSys]] ([[User talk:SolSys|talk]]) 15:38, 27 January 2016 (CET)

:::It is impossible to include <nowiki><section begin= /></nowiki> in the Decision/Event templates. I tried a lot of possible solution on my sandbox, but then I realized it is a well known bug. [[User:Stigni|Stigni]] ([[User talk:Stigni|talk]]) 16:43, 27 January 2016 (CET)

:::: Ah in that case then we should probably ask HairyDude to update the parser. [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 16:45, 27 January 2016 (CET)

::::Oh, that's too bad. Thanks for the heads up, saved me from some unwarranted frustration. I'll leave a message for ''Hairy Dude'' later. ~ [[User:SolSys|SolSys]] ([[User talk:SolSys|talk]]) 16:50, 27 January 2016 (CET)

== Removing brackets from super-regions ==

I was thinking of removing the brackets from the earlier super-region pages [as you asked because of (disambiguation) uses]. I noticed you restored [[China (super-region)]] due to redirects, but I didn't see anything in the ''Page information''. Am I looking in the wrong place? ~ [[User:SolSys|SolSys]] ([[User talk:SolSys|talk]]) 14:00, 13 January 2016 (CET)

: The pages themselves should be without brackets, however given that several links to the [[China (super-region)]] existed, see [[Special:WhatLinksHere/China_(super-region)]], it was worth restoring the page to give easier linking. Redirects take up next to no space so we're not limited by them [[User:Dauth|Dauth]] ([[User talk:Dauth|talk]]) 14:20, 13 January 2016 (CET)

: What Dauth said. Basically the only situation where a redirect should be deleted is when it is outside the main namespace (and thus is basically useless in most situations), or is actively misleading. [[User:Meneth|~ Meneth]] ([[User talk:Meneth|talk]]) 14:29, 13 January 2016 (CET)

== Area maps ==

*''Edit: Moved from user page to discussions.'' ~ [[User:SolSys|SolSys]] ([[User talk:SolSys|talk]]) 14:16, 21 January 2016 (CET)

Wurttemburg[edit]

Added this to Wurttemburg: One unique perk of the Swabian culture group is it is so rarely played it only has two ruler names (both male) - Gunther and Rolf.

Why remove this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.87.213.113 (talk) 13:45, 17 March 2018‎ (CET)

It did not add a strategy guide. It was a single point that is more relevant on the HRE page. The wiki also uses a third person register so using "you" is not part of the style guide. In summary, it didn't aid the page, it was in the wrong place and it didn't follow the style guide. Hence I removed it. If you want to add the content to the Holy_Roman_Empire#Empresses section then it would be more suited. I hope this explains the decision. Dauth (talk) 18:17, 17 March 2018 (CET)

Rum Guide[edit]

(Content moved from my 2016 archive).

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Steve711 (talk) 10:26, 3 December 2017‎ (CET)

Please don't post on my archive, this is my talk page and I'll get an alert when you post here. We have the job you claim however we also have to enforce the style guide and the country style guide and ensure that the content added is easy to read. SolSys was not amused because you had a repeating pair of paragraphs and an overflow of flags. If I take a cursory look at the your edit then it needs correcting on the following points.
  1. Use of you/your: Please change to third person (137 times)
  2. Use of slang/ internet speak: Please correct to full English sentences
  3. Bad grammar/spelling: Please correct it
  4. Prescriptive instructions: Make more generic
  5. The wiki used third person informal register, this edit does not
  6. Repetitive strategy sections: Merge into relevant up to date strategy (Two whole paragraphs)
  7. Absence of links: Links missing or replaced by bold or italics which do not function (Lots of flags but no links to other mechanics or other pages)
  8. Left the strategy marker in place
  9. Removed structure from the page (box wrappers)
Hence the edit was reverted. If you want to work on the guide on your userpage then I can copy it across for you. I hope this explains the decisions made. Thanks, Dauth (talk) 11:22, 3 December 2017 (CET)

I verified myself that trade companies don't give a merchant if you have Dharma but not Wealth of Nations. Grotaclas (talk) 13:27, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

The information is welcome on the wiki. All caps spam in a paragraph is not. You're more than welcome to put it back in. Dauth (talk) 12:00, 2 February 2020 (UTC)

Talk:Patch 1.30.X[edit]

Hi, on Talk:Patch 1.30.X I asked a question about the corresponding article. I think you might be able to answer it. --Malkanto (talk) 19:29, 13 July 2020 (UTC)

SolSys gave an answer. We protect the pages because they're intended as a record of the patch notes from the Devs. Not the patch notes interpreted and modified by the community. Dauth (talk) 20:46, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
