Navarra is a one-province nation in northern Iberia. It is the only Basque nation in the game and starts off with the same dynasty as Flag of Aragon Aragon and Flag of Castile Castile, either of whom usually vassalize Navarra. Navarra is the only country that can form both Flag of France France and Flag of Spain Spain without culture shifting. Historically most of Navarra was incorporated into Flag of Spain Spain in 1512, while the northern part entered into a personal union with France in 1598, being merged into the kingdom proper in 1620.

Global expansion in newly discovered areas and the establishment of colonies is transforming Spain into one of the most powerful and wealthiest nations of our time. Spanish explorers are constantly moving into new lands and extending our borders. Immense amounts of gold and silver are being brought back to our motherland, filling the coffers of our state Treasury.

Strategy[edit]

Strategy The below is one of many player suggested strategies for Navarra. Bear in mind, due to the dynamic nature of the game, it may unfold differently for other players.

Intro[edit]

Flag of Navarra Navarra is a challenging choice, as they are the smallest Iberian nation while having a relatively tough achievement called Basque in Glory. They could form Flag of Spain Spain which gives you more balanced idea and powerful mission tree.

Opening moves[edit]

Flag of Castile Castile, Flag of France France and Flag of Aragon Aragon are strong nations who also want your provinces. At the start, the player may prevent Flag of Castile Castile from forming a Personal Union over Aragon via the Iberian wedding, as it will bring a tough battle between you and allies. Therefore, the player will have to quickly find good allies with enough favors such as Flag of France France or Flag of England England.

The player may find Flag of France France to be the better option, as the player can gain more favors by promising to give the French their cores when asking them to join a war against England. Flag of Castile Castile could be a good starting ally, as it could speed up crushing Flag of England England and Flag of Portugal Portugal Alliance. The player will often find PU event which allow the player to claim Flag of Aragon Aragon throne. If done correctly with luck, the player could fight on Flag of Aragon Aragon and then Flag of Castile Castile separately by PU CB.

Without Flag of England England's help, Flag of Portugal Portugal could be annexed with a few wars. The Berber states are relatively easy to fight, if the player make use of religion and allies.

Mid game[edit]

During Age of Reformation, if the player wants to get Basque in Glory achievement, Navarra should already control Castile and Aragon as PU subjects. If the ideas selected correctly, these nation should be annexed and converted quickly.

France, Berbers and Italians could be the next reasonable target as the trade income could be boasted from these region. Moving the capital into the Genoa node also greatly helps with trade income. Alternatively, colonization is possible if the player able to take many coastal provinces from Berbers and Portugal.

late game[edit]

As Flag of Navarra Navarra's idea could be improved by forming Flag of Spain Spain, the player will often form Flag of Spain Spain right after the annexation and continue the colonization and Spanish inquisition. Flag of Russia Russia, Flag of France France, Flag of Austria Austria and Flag of England England could be late game allies.

As one of mission tree gives army tradition in the entire game, some player may take this mission before formation of Spain

Ideas[edit]

Navarra later on can be a major colonial power, if they united all Iberians.

  • Influence ideas is a powerful idea group allowing the player to annex large subjects early.
  • Exploration ideas is a very strong idea group allowing the player to colonize the new world and become a colonial power.
  • Administrative ideas are helpful to annex more lands quickly, especially useful for OPM Navarra.
  • Religious ideas Cheaper and faster culture and religious conversion for the achievement.

Achievements[edit]

Starting as Navarra, ensure that most of Iberia is Basque culture before the Age of Absolutism.
