NI formatting[edit source]

A minor note about NI formatting: leave out superfluous 0s; write "100%" rather than "100.0%" for example. Also, I'm pretty sure those Danish NIs are outdated. The ones on the unique national ideas page are likely up to date, but an in-game check to make sure is probably warranted.

Oh and only the first letter in a sentence should be capitalized, with the exception of proper nouns. So it should for example be "Naval maintenance modifier" rather than "Naval Maintenance Modifier". ~ Meneth (talk) 11:51, 10 September 2013 (CEST)

Can't play the game right now, but i checked the files and i'm 90% sure that Danish NIs are accurate.
And about the spelling and superflous (Spelling?) 0's, Well, i'll try to not do that, but that's how the game does it, and i feel compelled to copy it. :) Pinpinolo (talk) 13:47, 10 September 2013 (CEST)
The game does some silly things at times. I'll look into the Danish ideas. ~ Meneth (talk) 13:54, 10 September 2013 (CEST)
Yeah, everything is correct after you updated that bit about tolerance. ~ Meneth (talk) 14:02, 10 September 2013 (CEST)

Great work so far. The only issues I've noticed is that you leave out the colon on the bonus line, and that occasionally you capitalize everything on a line. Some of the internal links could be simplified as well; there's no need to for example have "available mercenaries" go to "mercenaries", when you could instead just stick those brackets around only the word "mercenaries". Keep up the good work. ~ Meneth (talk) 12:16, 11 September 2013 (CEST)

Brilliant work. Only 9 idea groups left, then all of them will be done. ~ Meneth (talk) 20:53, 12 September 2013 (CEST)

Article Version[edit source]

Heya, you might want to change "{{version|Pre-release}}" to "{{version|Vanilla}}" when you (fully) update an article. (Now I think about it, it's fairly strange that most articles are considered to be pre-release.) (Dutchling (talk) 15:36, 24 September 2013 (CEST))

Ah, okay. Got a bit distracted amidst the editing. Pinpinolo (talk) 15:37, 24 September 2013 (CEST)
A lot of pages are still tagged as pre-release as no one has updated them since before release. You can see them all in the outdated category. Anything that's correct for the current version; even if there's barely any content on the page, should be tagged as Vanilla, yeah. ~ Meneth (talk) 15:41, 24 September 2013 (CEST)
Do you have a bot or something to mark everything as outdated once a new patch is released? Dutchling (talk) 15:43, 24 September 2013 (CEST)
The template itself does that. I just change what tag is considered up to date. As changes between individual versions generally aren't huge, the system goes by expansion rather than patch. ~ Meneth (talk) 15:44, 24 September 2013 (CEST)

Right, taking a break. Best to update Unique national ideas. Pinpinolo (talk) 16:39, 24 September 2013 (CEST)

Add missions[edit source]

I noticed you added "add missions" to your to-do list. As such I thought it might be best to alert you that I'm currently working on a parser which will be used to automatically turn the missions into natural text. I've already done so for decisions (every decision on the decisions page was generated by my parser), and I'm currently working on missions. If you want to help out, I'm gonna make a page about it soon: Project:Parser where I'll track my progress and people can give feedback. ~ Meneth (talk) 16:18, 26 September 2013 (CEST)

Great work[edit source]

Great work on the Countries page. BTW, consider coming on IRC sometime. ~ Meneth (talk) 14:39, 28 October 2013 (CET)

The IRC suggestion stands. If you want to help bump Ming from B-class to A-class, you could add a page with their missions. Except for that lack it is quite a good page, thanks in part to your earlier work. ~ Meneth (talk) 20:45, 8 November 2013 (CET)

NI links[edit source]

For the NI links in land units, it probably makes more sense to link directly to the country page. Or at least, link to "national ideas", not "National Ideas", as that incurs an entirely unnecessary redirect. ~ Meneth (talk) 15:59, 1 November 2013 (CET)

In support of your 'Campaign for Flags'[edit source]

I've created Template:Flag to standardise the whole process, auto-linking etc. Enjoy :P --General Baker Great Britain.png (Talk | Contribs) 15:06, 3 November 2013 (CET)

Vandalism[edit source]

Thanks for dealing with the vandalism while I was sleeping.

I've assigned you to the half-op group now, and given the half-op group rollback privileges, so from now on you can undo all edits by a single user to a page with a single click. It also allows you to delete pages and edit protected pages (except those with cascading protection), so I'm gonna go ahead and protect the Icon page now as vandalism there would affect a ton of pages. ~ Meneth (talk) 13:34, 9 November 2013 (CET)

Rollback[edit source]

I rolled back your edits to the countries page as you did not indicate that most of the countries you added do not exist in 1444. ~ Meneth (talk) 11:21, 29 November 2013 (CET)

Template: Bonus table[edit source]

Hi Pinpinolo, you added some ideas to the template which occur only in converted CK2 games. I think this is not a good idea. There is no hint for the readers/players about ths fact. How should he know that for example the Aztecs in normal and converted games have different idea? – Lillebror (talk) 09:07, 7 August 2014 (CEST)

Sorry for the delayed response. Maybe we should add a footnote next to these ideas, denoting the CK2-only status? Pinpinolo (talk) 11:03, 11 August 2014 (CEST)

I don’t play CK2. How many players play converted games?
Are the Infoboxes on the National ideas page not enough?
If you want to integrate these ideas, my proposal (like on countries page):

Lillebror (talk) 11:49, 11 August 2014 (CEST)
Personally I think it makes sense to exclude converter-exclusive ideas from the table. They're pointless to most players, especially since even when using the converter those nations usually won't be there. ~ Meneth (talk) 12:15, 11 August 2014 (CEST)

update 1.23[edit source]

I'm working on the update for patch 1.23. (User:Lillebror/sandbox/BT) Currently the last 6 new idea-sets missing. We shouldn't do work twice. – Lillebror (talk) 10:22, 1 December 2017 (CET)

A thank you[edit source]

Since the contest rules don't allow your participation, I'd like to thank you personally for your fantastic contributions to the wiki.

I've also got an €15 voucher for the PDX web store that I want to give you, but you don't have an email address registered. Is there somewhere I could send this to you? ~ Meneth (talk) 17:33, 2 March 2015 (CET)

Thank you! Would a PM at my reddit account be a good place? (I've never actually used the Paradox store before though) Pinpinolo (talk) 14:30, 4 March 2015 (CET)
I've sent you a PM now. ~ Meneth (talk) 15:10, 4 March 2015 (CET)

Core contributor group[edit source]

Good afternoon. Given your long history of contributing positively to the wiki, I was wondering if you'd be interested in joining our group of core contributors? Basically this means you'd get invited to a Slack team where we occasionally discuss things like wiki policy, contests, needed work, and the like. If you'd be interested in joining that, send me an email or a message on reddit with the email address I should invite. ~ Meneth (talk) 12:22, 16 December 2017 (CET)

Available by date[edit source]

Hi, thanks for updating the wiki's nations pages. However, there is no need for the "available by date" comment. Considering the overwhelming percentage of players that only use the 1444 start that is a lot of effort for little to no gain -- and consequently causing too much maintenance overhead which caused me to remove them from the articles as they were. Instead, it is better to list all nations without cores at the 1444 start as revolter nations. Edit: A small addition, you may have noticed some nations lacking links -- that is to avoid a double redirect as they end up redirecting to the article they are already in [i.e. Perak ]. ~ SolSys (talk) 19:43, 19 September 2018 (CEST)

1.31 ideas update[edit source]

Hi, I noticed that you started updating the national ideas. Are you doing this manually or do you have an automated tool? I improved the idea generation of pdxparse recently and I could generate most of it automatically. The only things it can't currently do are the correct ordering of ideas which have several effects and the correct name= line. --Grotaclas (talk) 11:12, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Sweet, really? Go ahead then, I just got way too used to doing it manually over the years. But there is one problem, the NI page is getting way too big so I'm thinking we're gonna have to split it soon. Pinpinolo (talk) 11:15, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

I put all the remaining generated ideas on the wiki and updated the changed ideas. There is still some manual work left to do which I noted on the talk pages: Talk:National_ideas#TODOs_for_1.31 and Template_talk:Group_NI#TODOs_for_1.31. Maybe you can do these things. --Grotaclas (talk) 19:37, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
