The old Duchy of Swabia ended with the execution of Conradin, the last of the Hohenstaufen Dukes, in 1268. Since then, a plethora of countries, bishoprics and free cities have emerged to fill the void left by the fall of the Hohenstaufens. However, these small states are often unable to protect their liberty - thus, the Habsburgs of Austria have built up considerable territorial holdings in Swabia, which they call "Further Austria". We must restore unity to Swabia if we are to end this pattern of outside encroachment.

Strategy[edit | edit source]
The player should quickly seek to ally regional powers, and especially ally your rivals' rivals. The player should also improve relations with Austria, to try and get an alliance with them. Whilst you can take your time as you are a free city, you should try and expand as fast as possible to ensure not falling behind. Build up favours and go to war, taking as many provinces as possible whilst being careful of AE. The player should focus on getting the required provinces to form Swabia, which will gain you prestige, claims and better ideas. From here the player may want to ally electors and try to become the Emperor, or simply continue expanding in Germany.
