Colonial nations[edit]

Seeing all the "minors" in the region pages.. just wondering: do you have plans to include colonial revolt states in this page? -- Karavinka (talk) 08:29, 25 October 2013 (CEST)

Yeah, this page would probably be the most logical place to put them. ~ Meneth (talk) 11:33, 25 October 2013 (CEST)

Canada's culture could be the culture of the nation they had broken from. In one of my savegame, it has norwegian culture.--Udachi (talk) 18:34, 27 October 2013 (CET)

Edited: A colonial nation's isn't the culture of the nation they revolted against. It has the culture of the province where the revolution begin. For example, an UPCA revolution against Portugal but begin in a province that has Mayan culture will have Maya culture as is primary culture. Udachi (talk) 05:31, 14 January 2014 (CET)

Argentina[edit]

To the user(s) who keeps changing the name of La Plata to Argentina: There is no such thing as Argentina in this game. There might be come Conquest of Paradise, but it does not exist in the current version. Try searching through the localisation files for Argentina, and you'll find nothing. Please stop renaming it. ~ Meneth (talk) 01:38, 5 January 2014 (CET)

Formable colonial nations[edit]

Since the previou colonial revolt states are now formable, should they all be granted separate pages or not? The decision folder has formation decisions for: Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Haiti, La Plata, Louisiana, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Quebec, UPCA, USA, Venezuela - basically all former revolt states. They require the nation to be formerly colonial, and either have specified cores (in case of Quebec, for example) or a number of provinces in the region (in case of Canada). Karavinka (talk) 15:52, 19 January 2014 (CET)

Quebec[edit]

In regards to the provinces required to form Quebec, the following province name may be wrong:

    • Innu
    • Atikamekw
    • Stadacona
    • Kwedech
    • Algonquin
    • Abitbi
    • Cree
    • Nunavik
    • Ungava
    • Labrador

I believe these are the old provinces before the wasteland rework. They should be as follows:

    • Innu
    • Tadoussac
    • Stadacona
    • Maisouna
    • Algonquin
    • Abitbi
    • Cree
    • Cisasipi
    • Qikirmiut
    • Chisadec

Or if you prefer in French(Cosmopolitaine):

    • Mecatina
    • Tadoussac
    • Quebec
    • Trois-Rivieres
    • Algonquin
    • Abitbi
    • Fort Saint-Jacques
    • La Grande
    • Grande-Baleire
    • Baie Rouge

I have corrected the province names. Welcome to Eu4wiki. Please sign your posts on talk pages with 4 tildes ~~~~. – Lillebror (talk) 08:48, 2 February 2015 (CET)

Notable nations[edit]

Chimu and Cusco should be notable nations, as we have Chimu events and Incan missions which should be in fact Cusco missions. Puchacz (talk) 08:24, 3 September 2015 (CEST)

There are some notable nations without own page. Feel free to create these pages. – Lillebror (talk) 09:39, 3 September 2015 (CEST)

I really don't like the idea how notable nations are deleted from the list when they are added to notable section. Now Kiche is outside Mayan group, even if it share events with the rest of them. Therefore, by moving a nation to notable we loe some kind of integrity – Mayan without Kiche, Nahual without Aztec and Tarascan and so on. I strongly believe, that it would be more intuitive if notable nations wouldn't be moved, but copied into notable section instead. Puchacz (talk) 21:30, 21 September 2015 (CEST)

You have my backing to change to your suggested layout. If done, how many other pages require the same attention? Dauth (talk) 00:01, 22 September 2015 (CEST)
I've got no strong feelings either way on this.
Lillebror, any thoughts? ~ Meneth (talk) 17:58, 22 September 2015 (CEST)
I can understand the arguments of Puchacz and agree. My suggestions for a new page layout, here in my sandbox. Maybe there's something useful. – Lillebror (talk) 20:08, 22 September 2015 (CEST)
I think it'd make some sense to still have the "notable nations" list though; it gives a quick overview of the most relevant countries in the area, and takes very little space so doesn't bloat the article. ~ Meneth (talk) 20:14, 22 September 2015 (CEST)
I'm with Meneth on this. Just having the notable list with the 'other' nations below in the sections we already have. Dauth (talk) 20:16, 22 September 2015 (CEST)
I like the look of Lillebror's since the notable nations are a bit arbitrary. However, it would be still good if the old notable and formable countries section existed in their small table like section. Puchacz (talk) 21:47, 22 September 2015 (CEST)
Notable nations are defined as any nation with unique event(s), mission(s), or national ideas. So it's a pretty clear-cut definition even if it is somewhat arbitrary. ~ Meneth (talk) 21:48, 22 September 2015 (CEST)

Two further suggestion:

1. The only/main additional information of the lists on these 'region' pages in relation to the list of countries is the national idea of the countries. Is it possible to expand the script that it adds the national ideas to the table? If so, remove the pages.
Country Tag Government Technology group Religion Culture (culture group) Capital National idea
Aachen.png Aachen AAC Government republic.pngFree City Western.pngWestern Catholic.pngCatholic Rhenish (Germanic) Aachen German ideas

Afghanistan.png Afghanistan AFG Government monarchy.pngIqta Muslim.pngMuslim Sunni.pngSunni Afghan (Iranian) Kandahar Afghan ideas
2. The game has approximately 600 countries. The New World page presents around 90 nations. Perhaps it should be split.

– Lillebror (talk) 10:08, 23 September 2015 (CEST)

I might at some point make the country list generator fetch national ideas, but it isn't all that simple.
Might make some sense to split the New World into North and South America. ~ Meneth (talk) 13:20, 23 September 2015 (CEST)
With what Lillebror has just said, is this a case of needing to rebuild from nothing as opposed to adapting what we have? If we have 600, of which of the order 100 could be notable. Should we instead perhaps wait until 1.14 and break nations up into their regions/super regions and then keep the list at the top for notable nations and the bulk list below? Dauth (talk) 10:37, 23 September 2015 (CEST)

uggh[edit]

were is the page with the notable native nations and the notable colonial nations did they moved it or something this is really frustrating — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.204.245.27 (Talk) 17:59, 25 January 2016‎ (CET)

This is part of a work in progress. Also sign your edit. Dauth (talk) 19:08, 25 January 2016 (CET)
The notable section as a whole has been removed from the nations pages as it was deemed unnecessary at this point. I'm sure you have noticed that by now that many more nations/groups have unique flavor added to them since v1.1 . ~ SolSys (talk) 19:40, 25 January 2016 (CET)

Redirect[edit]

The New World is not only North America. Is there a better target for the redirect? Perhaps America (disambiguation)? – Lillebror (talk)

New world is listed on the disambig, if it can contain the links to relevant pages then I agree with the changes. Dauth (talk) 18:26, 18 February 2016 (CET)
