formula for replacing tradeships
Can someone come up with a formula for when it is advantageous to replace the tradeships for the more effective models? It would be the monthly income from the difference in tradepower (new ship minus old ship) in the given tradenode, divided by the cost of a new tradeship, resulting in the repayment time for the capital investment. Obviously depends on the tradepower situation in the tradenode. --Pookles (talk) 20:04, 15 December 2013 (CET)
Up to date
This is up to date, because all the new ships have been added and no other information has been changed by patches.
Tactical Movement Speed
The article mentions two different types of unit speed for ships, one which affects the speed at which navies move ("strategic") and the other affects combat ("tactical"). The latter, however, is barely touched up upon and I have no idea what affect it has, no was I successful at finding any formulas for it in the game files (granted I'm not particularly adept at navigating them). Does anyone have any idea what this "Tactical Unit Movement Speed" does and how it affects combat? Specifically, I'm looking for a formula. --188.8.131.52 17:13, 4 March 2015 (CET)
I'm pretty sure these aren't timeless, though they do contain several transclusions but unless the source is versioned then we're going to get unmarked out of date content. Dauth (talk) 11:50, 30 September 2015 (CEST)
- Timeless - rarely changed - or not. These sections are doubled content, as the navy page contains the information on the recruitment and maintenance of navies. (same on Land units - Army) – Lillebror (talk) 12:35, 30 September 2015 (CEST)
No dice roll malus for galleys anymore
the dice roll malus for galleys in high seas was removed in 1.28 according to the patchnotes. I tried removing the sentence ", and in fact have an (invisible) dice roll malus", but I get an "Access Denied" error message. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Grotaclas (talk) 15:14, 7 December 2019 (CET)

Does the different between tactical and strategic movement speed still exists?
The sail_speed in the files in the common/units folder seems to determine the strategic speed now and the defines HEAVY_SHIP_SPEED, LIGHT_SHIP_SPEED and GALLEY_SPEED don't exist anymore (but TRANSPORT_SPEED still exists even though they move at different speeds). And the tooltips in the battle view also list the speed from sail_speed. But the unit tables still list the old tactical speed even though their version tag has been updated to 1.31. But I don't know where in the game files the tactical speed comes from. --Grotaclas (talk) 16:31, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
