Artillery fire and similar[edit]

The artillery fire and other similar modifiers do not add to unit pips, but rather to the tech modifiers. Source: the "Note from Groogy" section here. This makes them multiplicative rather than additive, and much more powerful than they'd have been if they were added to pips. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ergil (talk) 08:39, 30 November 2020‎ (CET)

I think that the sum is the multiplier. – Lillebror (talk) 13:51, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
Sure, but that's also true for a lot of modifiers we call multiplicative, e.g. combat ability or discipline: if you have two sources of 0.1 the total modifier is 1+0.1+0.1 = 1.2 rather than 1.1*1.1 = 1.21 Ergil (talk) 14:20, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
Actually I see that's explicitly explained in the Overview section of the page: "All modifiers stack additively. For example, if you apply infantry_cost = 0.1 and then apply infantry_cost = 0.3, the country will have infantry_cost = 0.4. However, the effect the modifier value has on its base value can be additive or multiplicative." Ergil (talk) 14:32, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
The artillery fire values are added to its base of zero.
Example: Spain at military technoligy level of 7 has a artillery fire modifier of 2 thats 0 (base) + 1 (technology level) + 1 (Spain tradition). – Lillebror (talk) 18:09, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
