The city state of Verona's Ideas make reference to shakespeares "Romeo and Juliet"

The crusader mission "Knights of the New World" rewards the player with a conquistador of Scottish culture. This is a reference to Morgan Black, the first protagonist of the Age of Empires III campaign.

  1. Spanish ideas does not have "The Spanish Inquisition". It only appears in Castilian ideas now.

  3. event "Comet Sighted" has an option "I wish I lived in more enlightened times...", which corresponds "Thank God, we live in enlightened times" in vic2. "The economy, fools!" seems to be a reference to Bill Clinton's catchphrase "It's the economy, stupid!" in 1992 presidential campaign. and "If only we had comet sense..." seems to be a pun.
