Strategy[edit | edit source]

Strategy The below is one of many player suggested strategies for Tainui. Bear in mind, due to the dynamic nature of the game, it may unfold differently for other players.
Main article: Aotearoa#Strategy

Uniting New Zealand as quickly as possible to form Aotearoa is likely to be a priority when playing as Tainui, as European nations will begin colonising Oceania relatively soon after beginning to colonise the Americas, and be extremely difficult to evict. Tainui starts with 10 development, equal to their neighbours as the highest in New Zealand. Additionally, their geographic position enables them to fabricate claims on any other province in New Zealand, allowing more flexibility in expansion. This makes Tainui one of the strongest iwi. The kingdom government rank can be achieved without forming Aotearoa through the Centralize the Realm mission; however, irrespective of whether the player chooses to form Aotearoa the same strategies will be relevant for Tainui once it has united New Zealand.
