Form Irish Nation

For decades England has attempted to subjugate the Irish population and take control of the island. To unite the Irish lands under a sole flag may be our only chance to repel them.

Potential requirements

Ireland does not exist.
The country:

was never an end-game nation.
is not the Papal State or the Holy Roman Empire.
has not yet enacted this decision.
is not a colonial nation.
has Irish as primary culture.

If the country is AI-controlled then it:

is not a custom nation
is not a former colonial nation.
has at least 3 cities.

Playing with normal or historical nations.

The country:

has an administrative technology of at least level 10.
is not a subject nation other than a tributary state.
is not at war.
is not a nomad nation.
owns all provinces in the following areas:
- Munster
- Connacht
- Leinster

Effects

Strategy[edit | edit source]

The below is one of many player suggested strategies for Offaly. Bear in mind, due to the dynamic nature of the game, it may unfold differently for other players.

Offaly is a difficult nation to play as, because as soon as England has recovered 60% of its manpower, it will gain claims on all of Ireland. This will usually happen after the initial Surrender of Maine and war with France and after the war of the roses.

Initially there are two different choices. Try to stay in Ireland or try to flee to the new world. If you plan on staying in Ireland, prioritize annexing as many Irish provinces as possible and chose military ideas. If you plan to flee to the new world, take colonization ideas, discover America, and colonize less than five provinces in a colonial region. This is very important, as otherwise, it will form a Colonial Nation.

For the Spanish Fly achievement, forming Ireland or any other tag will not prevent the achievement, but instead only hide its conditions. The easiest way to get it is to take a single province from Spain with another tag's core (e.g. Asturias), release it as a vassal, use the "place dynasty on throne" subject interaction, annex them, return their core via the province button, claim their throne, and declare war with restoration of the Union CB and enforce the union.
