Form Franconia

The memory of the old Duchy of Franconia lives on in the memories of ambitious local rulers. The Prince-Bishop of Würzburg claims the title, but in practice it has lain in abeyance for centuries, its former lands riven by disunity. Should this unity be restored, then Franconia would once again become a force to be reckoned with in Germany.

Strategy[edit | edit source]

Nuremberg starts out as a free city in the Holy Roman Empire, which means that it has the protecting of the Holy Roman Emperor (which is Austria in 1444). Nuremberg has the ability to form
Franconia, which it can do quite easily. The easiest target to attack first is
Ansbach and it's vassal
Bayreuth. Ansbach usually doesn't get any strong allies and thus is easy to take out. Getting Ansbach and Bayreuth as vassals in this war has many benefits; Nuremberg remains a Free city, because that status is only lost ones it gets more than one province, and the Emperor won't ask for Unlawful territory. Make sure that the Strong Duchies privilege is enacted, to lower the liberty desire and give enough diplomatic relations for allies.
After the first war against Ansbach, Nuremberg can easily expand into Wurzburg, Rothenburg and Bamberg. Nuremberg's vassals should take the provinces in each war. After conquering the Franconian minors, only Aschaffenburg from Mainz or Coburg from
Thuringia are left. When the desired territory has been conquered, Nuremberg can annex their vassals Ansbach and Bayreuth and form Franconia.
