New Providence is a pirate republic in the Caribbean with its own ideas. New Providence does not exist in historical starts and is only formed by event.

Msg event.pngThe Pirate Republic

Nassau has fallen! The pirates of New Providence have become so emboldened by the absence of civilized government in the Bahamas that they have overrun the fort and proclaimed a Republic of Pirates.

Chief among them is the pirate captain Benjamin Hornigold. Hornigold maintains a tenuous leadership over the traitors and criminals of the island; the ruthless lieutenants under his command watch him closely for signs of weakness.

This ‘Republic of Pirates’ is not only a violation of our sovereignty over the Bahamas, but an affront to all civilized peoples. Anarchy reigns in New Providence.

This event happens only once during a campaign.

Strategy[edit | edit source]

Strategy The below is one of many player suggested strategies for New Providence. Bear in mind, due to the dynamic nature of the game, it may unfold differently for other players.

Any country that colonizes the Bahamas can spawn an event to release or play as New Providence and with its Pirate Republic mechanics. The easiest way to do this is to colonize the Bahamas and then privateer the Caribbean. You can send ships to privateer the Caribbean (even if it does not appear on the list of trade nodes to privateer from) by opening the Trade map mode and manually clicking the Caribbean node while the privateering mission list is open for your fleet. When it is early into the game and there are no competing powers in the Caribbean, this will easily set the pirate control over the 5% needed to fire the Golden Age of Piracy event. Subsequently, in about a year, the Pirate Republic event will fire.
