Msg event.pngThose who Travel and Those who Stay

Ancient stories tell how our people traveled far to reach this land, the land we now work and call our home. Although that time is now past, some of our neighbors retain this way of life, moving to new hunting grounds rather than building permanent homes. We have no interest in returning to those ways, but perhaps we could exchange knowledge and goods between our tribes, acknowledging the benefits of both our choices.

Msg event.pngThose who Travel and Those who Stay

A messenger from [From.GetName] has arrived. Unlike many diplomatic envoys, he speaks not of the similarities between our tribes, but of the differences: How we remain wandering the world, while they have built permanent settlements in [From.Capital.GetCapitalName]. Apparently, they believe these differences mean we have much to gain from trading what our different customs yield, both insights and goods.

Msg event.pngHoly Smoke

Tobacco has always been of use to our tribe. Some view the plant medicine, some as sacred, while others simply find inhalation of the smoke relaxing. However, the recreational use of the plant has spread in recent years, leading to discussions among the elders in [Root.GetName] about whether the people are abusing this gift. It has been suggested that the use of tobacco be restricted to ceremonies where the plant is essential, to prevent youths from listlessly wasting it.

Msg event.pngPreparing for the Sun Dance

Our people are beginning preparations for the Sun Dance, a sacred ceremony held during the warmer months of the year. Although this is an important event, it puts a lot of strain on the practitioners, many of whom are young warriors. We also need to put aside resources for the ceremony. This year, there has been some discussion about whether or not to devote ourselves completely to the Sun Dance, or to celebrate it on a smaller scale.

Msg event.pngHunters or Workers of the Soil

As a tribe who follow the buffalo, we take pride in our skill as hunters. Our stay in [Root.Capital.GetCapitalName] has allowed us to hone these skills, but some council members have begun to suggest that we are too dependent on them. They suggest that the lands of [Root.Capital.GetCapitalName] holds the potential for more than hunting and foraging, and that we would do well to start considering the benefits of agriculture. Perhaps we could even settle here.

Msg event.pngBy Fire

Since time immemorial, the use of fire has been a mark of mankind's ability to invent and destroy. Our homeland is shaped by controlled fires, used to manage crops and wild animals as well as clearing the surroundings.

Recent efforts to extend the use of these methods in [Root.GetName] has been called into question. Some of the elders believe it to be unnecessarily risky, but local leaders consider it necessary for continued development in the province.

Msg event.pngHunters on the Move

Although we have long since given up nomadic life, some bands still live primarily as hunters and need to remain on the move. As wild game moves to new lands, hunters must follow, but this is causing trouble for the people of [Root.GetName], where the community is now divided on the issue. Some locals argue that these bands are behind the times and should settle where they now live.

Msg event.pngMound Builders

Since the settlers arrived from Europe, there has been much speculation among them about the origin of the ancient burial mounds in the region. The settlers refuse to believe our ancestors could have built such structures, being unimpressed with our current construction projects. While they are clearly fascinated by the mounds, they seem to dismiss both us and our neighbors as unable to create anything of lasting value.

An important visitor has honored us with his presence. [Root.Monarch.GetName] has to decide whether to celebrate a Potlatch in our guest's honor or not. On the one hand, celebrating it will be a good opportunity to brag about our wealth in front of our people and theirs, on the other it is a costly thing that could cause us a lot of harm for future needs.

  • Country flag deer is set
While [Root.Monarch.GetName] was going on a hunt with some of [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] warriors, trying to surround a group of deers and bring some food for [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] tribe, one of [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] men approaches [Root.Monarch.GetHerHim] and says that he has seen a really big deer deep in the forest. [Root.Monarch.GetName] does not hesitate and follow the man through the woods until [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] finds [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] prey. A big deer, the biggest [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] has ever seen poses majestic in the middle of a clearing. [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] whispers a short 'thank you' to the spirits of the forest for this opportunity that [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] will not miss. [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] orders [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] men to stay quiet and in their positions as [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] starts to silently move towards the best position to fire [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] bow. The bow is ready to release the arrow destined to kill the animal. [Root.Monarch.GetName]'s breath is calm. [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] fingers start to free the arrow.

The following description is used if:

  • Country flag salmon is set
A woman from [Root.Monarch.GetHerHim]'s tribe approaches [Root.Monarch.GetHerHim] while [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] is fishing as [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] tribe usually does to feed their people. [Root.Monarch.GetName] raises [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] head towards her, [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] eyes meet and [Root.Monarch.GetName] knows she has seen something unusual, but good, nevertheless. With piety in her gaze, she whispers how she has seen the biggest salmon ever, a true incarnation of the spirit of the river we so deeply worship. [Root.Monarch.GetName] follows her to the spot where she saw it and after a few breaths [Root.Monarch.GetName] finally sees it. It is huge indeed. [Root.Monarch.GetName] prepares [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] tools to capture it.

The following description is used if:

  • Country flag seal is set
As [Root.Monarch.GetName] was going back home with [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] canoe after a good day of seal hunting, [Root.Monarch.GetName] saw not far away from [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] position a huge seal, a true blessing from the gods, emerge from the depths of the sea. [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] prepares [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] harpoon and quietly moves closer to it. [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] leaves the row over [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] canoe, stand up and have the harpoon ready to be fired. The seal emerges, their gazes contact as [Root.Monarch.GetName] releases the weapon.

The following description is used if:

  • Country flag pronghorn is set
The hunting group is coming back home when among the group of pronghorns that comes across [Root.Monarch.GetName], the biggest antelope [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] has ever seen appears. Almost as if it was a deity, [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] can feel a special bright aura around it and immediately knows [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] have to hunt it. [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] leaves the group behind and move silently to sneak the animal. When [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] is ready, [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] prepares [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] weapon, hoping to not miss the chance.

The following description is used if:

  • Country flag bison is set

Suddenly, among them, [Root.Monarch.GetName] can see a massive male that [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] knows has to be [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] prey. [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] prepares [Root.Monarch.GetHerselfHimself] for this unequal fight before [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] ancestors with a quick pray.
