We have been approached by some of the merchants and diplomats of Jolof, a country in the south that has just recently entered our sphere of influence. They have made us the offer of establishing a trade deal with them, arguing that increased trade between our nations will undoubtedly benefit both. Their argument is sound, and it could be a way to procure access to more exotic goods.

The trade deal we signed recently with those diplomats hailing from West Africa has resulted in some unforeseen consequences. Although it is true that we now have more access to their exotic goods, our nobles and traders have become too accustomed to these products, especially ivory, and no matter how much we manage to import their appetite for it is never satiated.
