The Western European regions are part of the Western Europe super-region. Most of the major nations in these regions are historical explorers and colonizers. These nations are the ones primarily responsible for the increasing flow of wealth into the continent from the newly discovered lands. As such, they have an inclination to pick idea groups suited for this role. Even so, nations which are located near the HRE can become entangled instead in the continental wars and the coming religious wars.

The break-down of the Western European regions are as follows:

Government types

  • Government monarchy.png Feudal Nobility is the dominant government type (notable exceptions are the English Monarchy and the Iqta in Flag of Granada Granada).
  • There are a couple of Government theocracy.png Theocracy governments and a single Government republic.png Republic in the middle area.

Religions

  • Catholicism Catholic is the dominant religion in these parts at the 1444 start.
  • A Sunni Islam Sunni holdout is located at the southern part of the area.
  • As Catholic reform desire.png reform desire reaches its peak in the Christian world, the Protestantism Protestant and Reformed.png Reformed denominations will start to spread across the continent. Anglican.png Anglican can also spawn in Britain.

Technology groups

  • Almost all nations in these parts belong to the Western technology group Western technology group (with the exception of Granada which is Muslim technology group Muslim).

Culture groups

  • British and Celtic in the northern part.
  • French and Germanic in the central and northeastern parts respectively.
  • Iberian in the southwestern part.
