This is a list of election events.[1]These events are used to choose a new ruler in a republic when the current ruler dies, is forced out of office by event or subject interaction, or their term ends.

Event trigger.png This event has multiple descriptions available. The below is used if:

If the country has a ruler that is marked as pushed out[2] then:
The term is up for $MONARCH$. With enough support [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] can stay in office, but then [Root.Monarch.GetSheHe] must defeat [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] three primary competitors...

else:

With $MONARCH$ being forced out of office by the revolting factions a new [Root.Monarch.GetTitle] will have to be elected. As the votes are tallied there is an unusual excitement in the air. The three primary candidates are all acutely aware of the events that has transpired these last few days...
 
Trigger conditions

The country:

  • does not use ‘Statists vs Monarchists’[3] mechanics.
  • does not use ‘Election by Lottery’ mechanics.
Is triggered only by

one of the following:

  • the end of the election cycle in a republic,
  • choosing the option “Give in to their demands.” of the Violence in the Streets events.

Option conditions

Event trigger.pngEnabled if: the country:

  • does not have a regency.
  • does not have a ruler that is marked as pushed out[2].

Keep $MONARCH$

[Root.Monarch.GetName] ([Root.Monarch.GetAdm] £adm£ / [Root.Monarch.GetDip] £dip£ / [Root.Monarch.GetMil] £mil£ ) remains ruler.

The current ruler gains:

  • Administrative power.png 1 administrative skill,
  • Diplomatic power.png 1 diplomatic skill,
  • Military power.png1 military skill.

If the Dharma.png Dharma DLC is not enabled and the country:

then

If the Rule Britannia.png Res Publica DLC is enabled and the country:

  • is not a tribe.
  • has a republican tradition of less than 20.

then

If the Rule Britannia.png Res Publica DLC is not enabled and the country:

  • is a not tribe.
  • has a republican tradition of less than 20.

then

  • If the Dharma.png Dharma DLC is enabled
    • then the country becomes a Government monarchy.png monarchy (Reform progress is refunded).
    • else the country's government changes to Despotic Monarchy.

The country:

  • loses Republican tradition.png 2.5% republican tradition per election cycle year.
  • loses Monthly karma.png 5 karma.

One of the following happens at random:

  • The country gains Administrative power.png 50 administrative power.
  • The country gains Diplomatic power.png 50 diplomatic power.
  • The country gains Military power.png 50 military power.

A new ruler comes to power with the following (fixed) attributes:

  • Administrative power.png 4 administrative skill,
  • Diplomatic power.png 1 diplomatic skill,
  • Military power.png 1 military skill,
  • a random gender if the country has the Policies.png policy ‘Mandatory Service’ enabled.

The country gains Monthly karma.png 10 karma.
Guilds The Guilds faction gains Guilds influence 20 influence.

The country gains Monthly karma.png 10 karma.
Aristocrats The Aristocrats faction gains Aristocrats influence 20 influence.


Event trigger.pngEnabled if: the country uses ‘Can re-elect from ruling family.’ mechanics.

A new ruler of the current dynasty comes to power with the following attributes:

  • Administrative power.png −2 administrative skill,
  • Diplomatic power.png −2 diplomatic skill,
  • Military power.png −2 military skill,
  • an age between 30 and 50,
  • a random gender if the country has the Policies.png policy ‘Mandatory Service’enabled.

The country:

  • loses Republican tradition.png 2.5% republican tradition per election cycle year.

Aristocrats The Aristocrats faction gains Aristocrats influence 10 influence.

If the country has Dutch Republic government:
The strengthening of the Statists has forced $MONARCH$ to accept the election of a new [Root.Monarch.GetTitle]. Both the Statists and the Orangists have put forward a new candidate.

else:

The strengthening of the Statists has forced $MONARCH$ to accept the election of a new [Root.Monarch.GetTitle]. Both the Statists and the Monarchists have put forward a new candidate.
 
Trigger conditions

The country:

  • uses ‘Statists vs Monarchists’[3] mechanics.
  • is not the lesser partner in a personal union or the Statists are in power.
Is triggered only by

the end of the election cycle in a republic.

Lottery election[edit]

The unfortunate passing of $MONARCH$ forces us to hold an election. After several rounds of secret allotment, three candidates have been presented each representing powerful factions within [Root.Country.GetName]. Officially the election should be decided by lottery, however we could pull some strings...


 
Trigger conditions

The country's government form uses lottery elections.[4]

Is triggered only by

the death of the ruler in a republic.


Immediate effects
  • Define Administrative power.png administrative, Diplomatic power.png diplomatic, and Military power.png military ruler candidates:
    • with random skills, but each one has minimum 2 in the corresponding skill
    • aged between 50 and 75 years
    • if the country has enacted the policy Mandatory Service, they have a random gender, otherwise male.

Option conditions

  • The Aristocrats Aristocrats faction, if it exists, gains 10 influence.
