Disasters is a system introduced in Patch 1.9 that replaced the previous MTTH event-based system used to simulate national disasters.
Disasters can be found under the ‘Stability and Expansion’ tab. The tab keeps track of the likelihood of any potential disaster, or the disaster that is currently in progress for a nation. Once a disaster has occurred, the nation cannot suffer the same disaster again (unless it's an estate disaster). Like revolts, progress on a disaster falls when any of the global prerequisite is not fulfilled. It is possible for a disaster progress to be "on hold" where the global prerequisites are fulfilled, but none of the monthly progress prerequisites are fulfilled.
Currently the following disasters are possible:[1]
