 To Love and Be Loved

A royal marriage is rarely a matter of love. Rather, it is a diplomatic opportunity which is not to be wasted. It is also of great importance that the future consort is of suitable status and it is advantageous if she or he is a foreigner, so as not to disturb the balance of internal politics.

However, even a monarch can become lovestruck. Then all such matters seem to melt away - from ruler point of view, at least. A local from the province has caught monarch’s eye. Ruler appears to be happier than ever, entirely and endlessly enamoured. While our nobles and advisors are less than pleased, the union between monarch and beloved has strong support among the commoners of the realm.

 The Royal Heretic

The people of our country were pleased when monarch announced marriage to consort. At the time little was said about origin or upbringing in consort capital - to most common folk royals are a breed of their own and they care little for such details. However, rumors bringing these issues to light have recently begun to spread... Some say that the consort has refused to let go of old faith - while the people may have understood the need for a marriage with foreigners they are less likely to do so when it comes to being ruled by a heretic.

 Matters of State

The people of our great country are well aware of our dispute with enemy. Considering that this is also the homeland of our consort it is no wonder that consort has been met with increasing animosity. For all they know consort could be harboring loyalties towards the old country, or worse - consort could be a spy! And is it not a funny coincidence, the nobles argue, that the great monarch has become so dependant on the advice of spouse?

Our military advisor has gone so far as to threaten to leave court if the monarch does not distance from the consort and untrustworthy whispers.

When we married our relative to the monarch, we thought a strong bond had been formed between our countries. While we would never dishonor our part in this deal, apparently they hold no such qualms.  In the Heart of consort

The consort made not one, but several friends during the feast arranged in consort name. In spite of it being many months ago, the consort has maintained these connections with little effort, and with the aid of one noble in particular has enjoyed learning everything there is to know about courtly life in our capital - there are so many parties, hunts, and feasts to attend!

The people of our country really are not that bad, consort thinks, looking out the window of the palace. Lately consort smiles at the landscape outside, realizing that even though consort will always treasure time in the old country, consort has found a new home.

 A Royal Influence

With the marriage between monarch and consort the people of our country are experiencing an increased fondness for all things consort's home. While some cultural exchange was to expect, particularly considering the popularity of the consort, it is with alarm that our administrative advisor reports that a religious shift has been taking place in one of our provinces. It would seem that the influence of our consort trickles down even into our subjects’ way of worship, as the words of the believers have converted a surprising amount of people...

When confronted about it, consort shrugs, arguing that consort has long since converted to the our faith and the monarch should know that. ‘I had nothing to do with this’, consort pleads.

Consort-Heir relationsEdit

 The Ambitions of a consort

It is no news that consort has no fond feelings for the heir. Ever since consort arrived at court the friction between the two has been obvious and it has only gotten worse since the birth of the consort’s first child. Of course consort would much rather see own progeny on the throne. For quite some time now consort has silently been pulling the strings to make it happen, convincing - or bribing - the right people and grooming eldest at the best of the abilities. However, it was not until yesterday consort confronted our monarch and demanded that it was time for a new heir to be appointed.

People are starting to get worried about the country’s future as there is no heir to the throne. There have been vicious rumors going around regarding infertility, both on monarch’s and the consort’s account. We should do something about the situation, not only to secure the future of country, but also to protect the honor of our ruler.

We must be patient. It will happen, eventually.

It is obviously consort’s fault. The monarch needs another consort.

 The Success of the Succession

Since the death of [Root.Consort.GetHerHis] spouse, the consort consort has been growing increasingly comfortable in [Root.Consort.GetHerHis] seat, as both guardian of the young heir as well as royal regent of [Root.GetName]. To the general public, it is clear that the situation is temporary and simply a political necessity while everyone awaits the crowning of little [Root.Heir.GetName] [Root.Heir.Dynasty.GetName]. Meanwhile, there are rumors of other characters, said to partake in clandestine meetings where they discuss, in their eyes, the honest potential of the young heir... ‘Putting that drooling imbecile on the throne would be a threat to the entire realm’, one conspirator mutters. ‘The consort is certainly a capable [Root.Consort.GetWomanMan], and a much better option’, another argues.

Although certainly aware of these cunning forces, the consort [Root.Consort.GetHerselfHimself] has yet to take a stand on this highly sensitive issue.

 A Shift in Power

Utilizing advice from [Root.Consort.GetHerHis] closest advisors and not without putting [Root.Consort.GetHerHis] own charm to the test, the consort consort has cleverly manipulated a good amount of members of the court into agreement: [Root.Heir.GetName] [Root.Heir.Dynasty.GetName], the royal heir and next in line to the throne, is a feeble-minded fool, unworthy of [Root.Heir.GetHerHis] legacy. However, there is one simple solution to the problem...
During yet another extravagant feast thrown in order to appeal to the nobility in charge, consort and [Root.Consort.GetHerHis] lackeys has managed to spread the idea of keeping the young [Root.Heir.GetName] locked away in [Root.Heir.GetHerHis] quarters - some isolation would allow the [Root.Heir.Dynasty.GetName] child to focus on [Root.Heir.GetHerHis] education, it is argued. That the young heir might also fade from the public eye is unfortunate for [Root.Heir.GetName], but ultimately a bonus for [Root.GetName]...

 The Miracle of Life

In these dark days of war and death, a reminder of new beginnings can ease the pains of our people. Our great [Root.Monarch.GetTitle] [Root.Monarch.GetName] and [Root.Monarch.GetHerHis] noble consort consort have been blessed with another child. The arrival of the babe has brought new hope and energy to the royal couple, and by extension, to their court and subjects. Many people dream that this child will grow up in a better, brighter future, and that all the fighting will thus be worth it in the end.

 A Royal Bastard

We tried to stop the rumors, but when we were made aware of them it was already too late. Now every other man and woman at court is gossiping behind our backs. Even the commoners in the streets have the nerves to make lewd jokes about ‘the friendly consort consort’ and ‘the bastard of [Root.Capital.GetName]’. They say that the Queen is an adulteress and that [Root.Heir.GetName], the heir of [Root.GetName], is not actually the [Root.Heir.GetDaughterSon] of [Root.Monarch.GetTitle] [Root.Monarch.GetName]. All we can do at this point is keeping up appearances as best we can and hope that the rumors will die down in time.
