Chagatai is a Steppe Horde in the Tartary region. They practice the Sunni faith, following the Hanafi school.
Chagatai starts as the overlord of Yarkand in the south. In the west, they are neighbors with
Transoxiana, a vassal of the
Timurids. To the north, they share a border with the
Uzbeks and
Oirats, and at the east, they border
Kara Del and
Sarig Yogir, both tributaries to the
Ming empire.
Historically, the Chagatai Khanate was one of the Four Mongol Successor states, with the other three ( Yuan China, The
Ilkhanate and The
Golden Horde) having collapsed by 1444, Chagatai remains the last successor standing. In eu4, Chagatai is capable of restoring Mongol Rule over both China and Persia, and can then go on to finally restore the
Mongol Empire.
