The trade along the Orinoco river has proven immensely valuable to our people and protecting our interests in this area will be vital to our future prosperity. There is some disagreement among the warriors and traders of our tribe on how to best control the river. The former would strike at any hostile tribe who tries to move into the area, while the traders feel it is much more important to convince any such foreign tribe to come to us and trade on our terms.

Refugees From the North
Centuries ago many of our ancestors left the mainland in order to settle the islands of the Caribbean. As these islands have now increasingly come to be dominated by European powers our northern brethren have become more and more marginalized on their islands. Recently tensions have culminated in a bloody conflict between the plantation owners and the island Caribs and as a result there is now an increasing stream of Carib refugees seeking to settle in our lands. These Caribs have been away from the mainland for generations and have intermarried with the population of the islands and no longer speak the same language as we do.
