The estates below are the base estates group which are available to all nations unless supplemented/replaced by special estate groups added via expansions.

Burghers[edit]

Burghers icon
This estate represents the urban population of your country such as Artisans, Merchants or others that reside inside city walls. Their traditional responsibility is to work to keep the economy going and in order to do so efficiently they expect to be granted special rights and privileges for themselves and the cities they represent.

The estate is not available for nations with the Vaishyas.png Vaishyas or Jains.png Jain estates.

Clergy[edit]

Clergy icon
This estate represents the educated priests of your state religion. They have a long tradition of serving in the administration of your country and their traditional responsibility is to care for the spiritual well-being of it and your people. Over the centuries they have acquired both land properties and privileges from former rulers as well as pious individuals.

The Clergy estate is not available for the Flag of United States United States unless the government is a Government theocracy.png theocracy. It is not compatible with the Brahmins.png Brahmins estate for nations with Sikhism Sikh or Hinduism Hindu religion.

This estate represents the families of landed aristocrats in your country. Their privileges are guaranteed by old traditions and most have originally been won through performing great services to the state. Their traditional responsibility is to fight and protect the realm against outside dangers as well as help the ruler keep the peace.

Parliamentary and Revolutionary government types along with Government republic.png Peasant Republics do not use this estate. Additionally, only Muslim technology group Muslim, Sikhism Sikh, and Buddhism.png Buddhist nations may combine this estate with the Marathas Marathas or Rajputs.png Rajputs estates.

Privileges[edit]

The bonuses or penalties of privileges are categorized in modifiers which are always active until the privilege is revoked and effects which are either one time effects or province modifiers and usually do something the moment the privilege is granted. A good example of this is the Monopoly on Trade Good privilege, where the country receives a large sum of Gold Icon.png ducats and gets a province modifier until revoked (both of which are listed under effects). For readability both types of effects are put into the same column in this table.
