Avaria is a landlocked OPM in Caucasia. Gazikumukh is its overlord in 1444. Historically Avaria would outlast their overlords and remain a force in the region until conquest by the Russians. They are Sunni and follow the Shafi'i school.
The below is one of many player suggested strategies for Avaria. Bear in mind, due to the dynamic nature of the game, it may unfold differently for other players.
Avaria starts off as a vassal state of Gazikumukh and in the start of the game they are the biggest problem. Make sure to train as many soldiers as possible and quickly start off an independence war and make sure to have good relations with Great Horde, money doesn't matter here as you will endlessly take loans. You can fix your economic problems later. If you are lucky you can make yourself a tributary and then start to expand into Circassia. From then you are free to expand however you please but the Great horde will always be a problem until dealt with. It is a good idea if you are planning to expand into Georgia that you have good relations with the Ottomans to avoid any wars you cannot win.
